Burnout
Protection Plan
Working in the justice-based advocacy field can be challenging for our mental health and overall well-being. Coupled with the many extreme events happening around the world and around our homes, daily tasks can become heavier in an instant, and burnout is at an all time high. At éxito, we’re big believers that to catalyze change, we have to start within; we’re all about walking the talk.
That’s why we implemented the first phase of our Burnout Protection Plan in March 2024. Phase One begins with the institution of quarterly “Quiet Weeks” and “Closure Weeks” company-wide. When we intentionally pause and take a break, we’re giving our minds and bodies time to reset and to be human-first without a worry of productivity. The idea of these quarterly weeks is that instead of each employee needing to bear the burden of scheduling time off around projects, we will institute this time off company-wide so that it's a total break for everyone involved.
Here’s a breakdown of each:
Quiet Weeks
These are weeks where we limit outside meetings (aside from business development meetings and other recurring client meetings that are timely) and focus on internal synergy. The idea is that these weeks can be used to catch up on work, organize, and restructure if needed.
Closure Weeks
(or OOO Weeks)
The entire team will be OOO, and éxito will be shut down. There are extremely rare occasions where something might be scheduled during this time, but employees are encouraged to utilize the time to be completely unplugged from work.
I know this policy change is non-traditional and progressive. We’re excited to try something new to address a recurring systemic problem in our field. We also recognize that this change may disrupt some of our weekly or regular timelines with partners. As always, our exitosa team is ready to follow up with each of our partners to ensure that all deliverables are timely and uninterrupted as we move forward.
